Why did you choose to work for Sarita Turner Mental Health Virtual Assistance?
I chose to work for Sarita Turner Mental Health Virtual Assistance for a variety of reasons. I was looking for a position that would offer an opportunity to continue working in the mental health field in more of an
administrative role. In many practices, there are unnecessary barriers that keep clients from
scheduling/receiving treatment. My hope is to be part of the solution in minimizing those barriers to help
streamline the process for both clinicians and clients.
What type of background do you have in this industry?
I am a licensed marriage and family therapist, and have specialized working with couples and individuals
who identify issues within their relationship systems. I have enjoyed working in a variety of settings
(medical, outpatient, private practice, community), and currently have my own part-time private practice.
What might people be surprised to learn about your role?
I think that this role takes a lot of patience and mental stamina especially if you work with multiple
practices. There are a lot of moving parts and things that can easily slip through the cracks.
What is your favorite thing about being a virtual assistant?
I definitely enjoy the flexibility of the job. I’m also a naturally curious person, so I enjoy learning new things and helping others streamline their practices to create the best experience possible for their clients.
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
Real estate or probably run my own business (coffee shop/coffee company)
What is the weirdest job you’ve ever had?
I don’t think this job was weird, I would say it was unique. I played piano at a bed and breakfast during the
cocktail hour 8th grade through my senior year of high school.
What is your favorite task about your job and why?
I like the versatility of the job and being able to do a variety of tasks. For me, it’s not so much about the
“task” itself as it is having multiple tasks/variations of tasks that I get to do everyday with different clients or on my own.
What does a typical day look like to you?
I’m not sure that there is a typical day, but a lot of my days will include checking emails/voicemails and
responding to those. Additionally, I forward medical requests/faxes, create and manage spreadsheets, run payments, set up testing inventories, and maintain open lines of communication with the practice owners either throughout the day or at the end of the day with what has been accomplished/questions I have.
What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
Self-motivated, reliable, patient
Describe your life outside of work (hobbies, activities, etc.)
I enjoy working out/running, playing piano, hiking with my husband or with friends, trying out new
restaurants, and learning/trying new things.
If given the chance, who would you like to be for a day? Why?
I don’t think I’ve ever wanted to be anyone but myself….and even thinking about it now, I don’t think I’d want to adopt someone else’s life because who knows what I would be walking into! Probably not the best answer but an honest one.
If you were stuck on a deserted island and could only bring 3 things, what would they be?
water/food, a bed, sunscreen
What was your greatest vacation?
I really enjoyed Lake Tahoe. That vacation always sticks out to me. We kayaked on the lake which was clear and beautiful, and we also got to see Yosemite as well. We did run into a few bears and that was horrifying, but a great memory for sure!
What’s the coolest (or most important) trend you see today?
No idea! Maybe people starting to feel more comfortable in their own skin or with their own style? I wouldn’t say I’m super trendy or in touch with a lot of the “new” trends, but it seems like people are developing a greater appreciation for diversity.
