Virtual Assistant Spotlight: Meet Lauren

Why did you choose to work for Sarita Turner Mental Health Virtual Assistance?

Being able to work from home part time has been very flexible in my schedule as a first time stay at home mom. It helps keep me relevant and up to date in the Mental Health Field but on a schedule that works for my family.

What type of background do you have in this industry?

I have a Bachelors in Public Relations/Marketing and my Master’s degree in School Counseling. I have worked as an intern in schools as a counselor.

What is your favorite task about your job and why?

I enjoy talking to clients and completing the intake information. It is nice knowing that those who need help are able to get it and I am one small stepping stone in helping them get the help they need.

What does a typical day look like to you?

I check email first thing in the morning and responding to anything from the previous day as well as complete the daily tasks needed for that day. Throughout the day I continuously check emails and messages to make sure there has not been anything missed.

What are three words you would use to describe yourself?

Organized, timely and active

What was the weirdest job you ever had?

Not the weirdest – but one of the most fun – I was an assistant swim coach for a club team as well as taught private lessons.erial and financial way.

What is your favorite thing about being a virtual assistant?

I really enjoy the flexibility. It fits perfect in my schedule while being able to stay at home with my toddler and soon to be infant. I am able to control how many hours I want so if my time allows me to pick up more hours I can jump at it or if I want to stay where I am at I can.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

I think I would do something in the medical field – Nursing – I really enjoy working and helping people.

If you were stuck on a deserted island and could only bring 3 things, what would they be?

I would bring snacks, my family, and phone (for the sake of playing music)

Describe your life outside of work (hobbies, activities, etc).

I have a 20 month old and am due with my second so my kids keep me very busy! Aside from my kids, I enjoy working out (have to make time for ‘me’ time), and being outside with my family.

What’s the coolest (or most important) trend you see today?

How quickly virtual counseling has picked up and how well people have responded to it. After this past year there has been such a rise in people seeking counseling services and being able to offer them virtually opens up so many more opportunities for people to seek help and I think that is great!

What was your greatest vacation?

North Carolina! We would take a big family trip to the shore and rent a beach house for a week. It is always nice to get together with the entire family especially those who live far away and spend a week relaxing at the beach!
