Virtual Assistant Spotlight – Meet Leigh Ann

Why did you choose to work for Sarita Turner Mental Health Virtual Assistance?

I enjoy the flexibility this role offers, while still being actively involved in the mental health field.

What type of background do you have in this industry?

I am a licensed masters level social worker with approximately four years of experience working with children and families in a school setting.

What might people be surprised to learn about your role?

This role is truly the best of both worlds, with flexibility to work when it fits my schedule and remain actively involved in the career field I am passionate about: mental health.

What is your favorite thing about being a virtual assistant?

I enjoy working specifically for Sarita as she truly values each of us as VAs for the unique skills we bring to the table and works hard to ensure we are supported each day.

What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?

More than likely I would still be practicing as a licensed social worker.

What is the weirdest job you’ve ever had?

One summer I taught a mountain biking class at a summer camp!

What is your favorite task about your job and why?

I recognize how difficult it can be for individuals to make that first call for help, and I find it to be a privilege to be the first point of contact for the intake process, and the journey toward healing for many.

What does a typical day look like to you?

I typically spend my day completing administrative tasks for my clients to include intakes, responding to patient questions, and completing assigned tasks from my clients.

What are three words you would use to describe yourself?

Detail-oriented, observant, and thorough

Describe your life outside of work (hobbies, activities, etc.)

I enjoy spending time on the beach with my family, reading, and trying out new recipes.

If given the chance, who would you like to be for a day? Why?

I would love to be a professional food critic. What a fun job… taste testing food!

If you were stuck on a deserted island and could only bring 3 things, what would they be?

Definitely my kindle for entertainment and a boat with a radio for the practical side.

What was your greatest vacation?

My husband and I have been to a few all inclusive resorts— definitely nothing better than relaxing on a beach!

What’s the coolest (or most important) trend you see today?

I am excited to see the future of mental health work, as the stigma surrounding mental health care continues to diminish.
