Why did you choose to work for Sarita Turner Mental Health Virtual Assistance?
Working for Sarita Turner Mental Health Virtual Assistance has been such a wonderful experience – I’m able to begin helping others while working towards my degree. Not only is this a job, but it’s also a daily learning opportunity and experience. I’ve already learned so much of what goes into private practice and mental health services and I can’t wait for it to continue!
What type of background do you have in this industry?
I currently am working towards my doctorate in psychology after graduating undergraduate majoring in Psychology.
What might people be surprised to learn about your role?
Something I am pleasantly surprised about but is not something I necessarily expected going in, was how much support we provide to clients as a virtual assistant. Especially parents. A lot of time they have so many questions and want to know how to help their child as fast as possible, and as the first point of contact they often look to you for advice and support in the interim.
What is your favorite thing about being a virtual assistant?
I really enjoy the flexibility, but beyond that I love that I’m able to begin helping patients with the healing process. I may play a small role, but getting to talk to parents and patients has been really rewarding and a huge learning experience for me. It’s been a joy to be a part of the supportive process and even getting to hear how my clients have helped better their own or their children’s lives. It makes me excited to be able to make those same differences one day!
What would you do (for a career) if you weren’t doing this?
I hope I’d be a practicing psychologist! I’m working towards that now, but I’d definitely be doing something in the mental health field. I’ve always felt this is a path that I should take, as there are so many people to help and so much work to be done!
What is your favorite task about your job and why?
Organization – I love being able to make processes more streamlined and organized whether that be with patient intakes, scheduling, or billing!
What does a typical day look like to you?
Pretty much all-day/every-day either working for our clients, doing homework, or research for my graduate dissertation.
What are three words you would use to describe yourself?
I’d like to think that I’m patient, kind, and organized. I think those qualities are what makes me want to work in this field!
Describe your life outside of work (hobbies, activities, etc.)
I love taking my dog on hikes and spending time with him outside. I also love to spend time with friends and family in my free time, since I’m usually so busy during the week. Music is also a huge hobby of mine.
What was your greatest vacation?
My trip to Rome, Italy was my favorite vacation. So much to see, learn, and gain from spending time in such a beautiful and fun city. I’m hoping to go back there soon!
